I have been pretty blessed so far in dealing with weather extremes. Last summer was hot but bearable with the help of ice mats for the kitties, a fan and spritzer bottle, and the occasional ice foot bath. Now I am dealing with the other extreme: 17 degree lows! It is time for payback for all the wonderful sunny KY days. We are forcasted for highs in the 30's and lows in the teens for the next several days. And then there are the intermitant icy snow flurries - I miss my big, fluffy Oregon snowflakes!

With the help of my new RV friends, I have learned about weatherizing the rig and staying warm. Things I never knew existed: heat tape for water hoses, spray de-icer for windshields, plug in heaters for engines.Who knew! I'm doing ok so far staying warm, thanks to propane delivery to run the furnace and my small electric heater (another benefit of workamping: free electric!). I have also readily indentified several spots for additional insulation for next year!

All in all I'm keeping warm and using the day off (working at Amazon 6 days a week now) to get caught up on webwork, blogs and facebook - check out the new photo album for Amazon/Campbellsville.

I'm already planning out the next adventure, looking at maps and considering how best to pack for the road. I have enjoyed being stable and having everything in place. Unfortunately, there are many things that get stowed while traveling or at least put in a large tub for easier access.

The end of my Amazon contract is fast approaching and no doubt will be here in a flash. They have been fantastic to us - they even provide giant tubs of fruit for our breaks! But I'm looking forward to heading south, especially after this cold spell (I'm told it is quite unusual for KY to have cold weather like this in December). I've made some wonderful new friends I'll be keeping in touch with and hope to run into again. Perhaps at Amazon again next year?
